After receiving my MA in Art History at Boston University, I returned home to Baltimore in 1996 just at the time that Special Collections was looking for an interim staff member while someone was on leave. Luckily for me, that role became permanent as staffing needs shifted. In my role as Materials Manager, my main function is to ensure that researchers and books come together when and where they are supposed to. I interact closely with many departments across the library on all the minutia and logistics that go on behind the scenes to make that meeting of researchers and materials happen as smoothly and efficiently as possible. I have served, shifted, shelved, and stewarded the books in the Special Collections of the Sheridan Libraries for almost 30 years now. And yes, I do regularly climb the ladders in the Main Library.
